Expedia introduced Romie, the assistant powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) that performs the functions of a Travel agent, that is, it helps plan Trips, purchases, reservations and even make unexpected changes to a trip and create itineraries.
Romie allows you to join group chats via SMS. This assistant listens, offers advice, summarizes the chat, and brings the details directly into the Expedia shopping experience. Expedia Group CTO Rathi Murthy noted that Romie gets smarter when used frequently, making the possibilities it offers endless.
This new tool can monitor changes in weather and gives activity suggestions to travelers and updates the itinerary in real time, which can be shared with friends and family, as reported by Travel Weekly.
The OTA unveiled Romie during the Explore partner conference at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. However, she has not announced a release date so at the moment it is available at EG Labs on Expedia.
As reported REPORTUR.us, Ariane Gorin will soon take the reins of the Expedia Group to replace Peter Kern, who will leave office this month, so in this new era Gorin already reveals the six areas on which he will focus, starting with the development of technology with Intelligence Artificial (AI), especially to create personalized experiences for travelers. (New era at Expedia focused on transforming from 6 areas).
Gorin pointed out at the time during the delivery of results for the first quarter of the year together with Kern, that fundamentally AI will allow them to offer experiences to their customers that are truly personalized, which he considers will be what will differentiate the giant led by Barry Diller and supported by Bill Gates.
