The company of Generation Hydroelectric Dominican (Egehid) announced today the postponement of emptied of the Aguacate Dam, without a defined date, due to the tropical wave that affects the region, ensuring that the rains that are happening “provide significant rainfall in the basin of the Nizao River and, in particular, the flooding of the Mahomita River”, tributaries that feed this reservoir.

The Egehid He planned to open the dam’s gates on the morning of this Monday, November 11.

In a statement, he assured that the objective of the emptied was to replace a gasket valve in the driving tunnel to the Aguacate hydroelectric powerhouse.

Regulation of the prey

Egehid assured that the opening would imply releasing some 40 cubic meters per second of waterthat is why the authorities prohibited the use of spas and other human activities in the Nizao River, in the section that goes from the power house of the hydroelectric from Jigüey to the tail of the reservoir prey of Valdesia.
