The National Directorate of Control of Drugs (DNCD) reported this Friday that 497 packages of drugs were seized, “presumably cocaine“, which would be exported to Hamburg, Germany.
The seizure was carried out during inspection work at the terminal, located in the municipality Boca Chicaprovince Saint Dominic.
Although the authorities assure that those responsible for the shipment are part of an international drug trafficking network made up of Dominicans, Venezuelans and Colombians, so far, there are no detained people linked to this failed operation.
The agents and soldiers, according to intelligence reports, outlined several containers that were going to be exported to Hamburg. When reviewing one of the scannersthey observed irregularities inside and proceeded to a verification more exhaustive.
In a press conference, the director of communications of the DNCDCarlos Devers, reported that in the operational agents of the DNCDsupported by the Military Security of the Caucedo Multimodal Port and the Customs Directorate (DGA), under the coordination of members of the Public Ministry.
Devers explained that, on instructions from fiscal acting, the protocol opening and inspection of the container, which was loaded with ground coffee. Inside the container, they found 20 packages of different colors that contained the 497 packages of the substance.
The authorities are carrying out research about the operation of drug trafficking to identify those involved and bring them to justice.
The investigative agencies of the Public Ministry and the DNCD have intensified their strategies of interdiction jointly, managing to intervene important shipments destined for Europe and the United States, camouflaged in agricultural products and other modalities.

Devers also highlighted the support of the management of the Port of Caucedo, which collaborates so that these operations against drug trafficking drugs are carried out without affecting commerce in the terminal.
The 497 packages used in this operation were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
