A shipment of more than 4,000 electronic cigarettes (vaper) filled with a liquid presumed to be marijuana, as well as hundreds of chocolates and gummies containing cannabis, were seized in an inspection operation carried out by agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the Specialized Airport Security Corps (Cesac) at the Las Américas International Airport (JFPG).
The acting units, under the coordination of the Public Ministry and within the framework of reinforcing joint efforts, they intercepted several boxes that arrived at the terminal from the United States and after being sniffed by canine units, they alerted of controlled substances inside the packages.
- Through a press release, the DNCD indicates that, on instructions from the prosecutor, the boxes were opened, four in total, finding distributed inside, 4,086 electronic cigarettes filled with a liquid that is presumed to be marijuana, as well as 358 chocolate bars and 195 chewing gums (Gummies) of different colors and sizes, made from cannabis.
The Public Ministry and the DNCD have initiated an investigation in relation to the seizure of the electronic cigarettes and other substances made from cannabis.
