Ricardo Fernández, CEO of the Destinia Travel agency, announced that the online company will continue its expansion in America, after opening in Mexico City and with an agent in Cancun, now its plan is to have an office in Florida, United States.
For Destinia, the Florida project began in 2022, but Fernández believes that it was not “well calculated then” and they had to give up. Despite this, the company is trying again because it will open before summer arrives, Fernández revealed to La Vanguardia.
Likewise, he referred to its recent opening in Mexico, pointing out that “it is important to adapt the product, customer service and payment methods to the markets you are targeting. They are very important barriers when operating there,” Fernández commented to the same media.
Destinia’s business is being driven by the internationalization of the market and is no longer depending on the Spanish market, although it remains its main market. “In 2019, Spain was 61% of our sales and now it is 33%, it has grown a little in recent months compared to the 31% it represented in 2023,” said Fernández. Spain is followed by France and Portugal, which represent 10% and its largest business now comes from the USA, Mexico and Brazil.
And he added that “we are always looking for opportunities, this is a very innovative market, but it is complicated because we do not want to leverage ourselves to face them.” In addition, Fernández indicated that another phase would be the entry of investors or going public, which he considers “very complicated.” ”.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, Destinia, whose turnover was around 235 million in 2023, 22% more than the previous year, will add two offices in America to its main headquarters in Madrid and the offices in Las Palmas, Lugano, Cairo and Curitiba. (Destinia will open offices in CDMX and Miami as a pioneer of AI).
