Through a press conference, the deputy spokesperson of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), Lionel Lazarre, announced the death of several members of the armed gang of Jimmy Chérizier, alias ‘BBQ‘, during recent operations.
Lazarre assured that the security forces confiscated three drones13 firearms10 vehicles and three motorcycles.
All this happens the same week that BBQ acknowledged in a video on Tuesday that it was suffering heavy losses in recent days caused by the joint operations of the PNH and the Multinational Mission Security Support (MMS).
“The Police invaded me. I have lost 10 soldiers. I cannot hide that number. It is the Police that hides their victims so as not to weaken the institution,” he says ‘BBQ‘ in a video that circulated this Tuesday on social networks, while in another it refers to the loss of weapons, specifically a Kalashnikov rifle.
He also insulted the managing director of the Police HaitiNormil Rameau, whom he called “fatras” (garbage) and snapped: “You are nothing.”
In another video, ‘BBQ‘ He assured: “I’m not here to play with you. If you’re going to fight, fight us.”
In that recording, he claimed to have been invaded by 14 tanks accompanied by two vehicles tow.
“They stay in a tank shooting. The Police do not know how to fight hand-to-hand. They refuse to put their feet on the ground,” he added, and stressed that the law enforcement forces cannot catch him.

Joint operations of Police and Multinational Mission
On Monday, during joint patrols of the Multinational Mission and the PNH, the drones detected the presence of ‘BBQ‘ accompanied by about 30 members of the band, when they tried to advance in two groups of about 15 people each, aiming for Delmas 2 and 6, according to a statement from the security support force.
According to the note signed by Jackson Ombaka, spokesperson for the mission, the MMS and the Police reacted quickly, forcing the gang members to retreat in the middle of the confusion and panic, among whom “several casualties were recorded.”
He adds that “it was also observed that some members were reluctant to obey the orders of their supposed leader, refusing to confront the determined MMS/PNH teams, who remain determined to capture ‘BBQ‘ to answer for his actions in prison.”
