The Dominican Republic denounced this Wednesday before the United Nations Organization (UN) that Haiti is out of control and said that the mission of support to the Haitian police, led by Kenya, has not been able to stop the bands and terrorist groups.
The country’s representative before the Security Council of the UNAmbassador José Blanco, indicated that not even the sanctions imposed on the financiers of armed groups have had any effect.
He maintained that the Dominican government supports the transformation of mission support in a maintenance force peace of the United Nations.
“The urgency to act in that direction is now,” Blanco said.
He added that “the facts prove it.” “Haiti is out of control and represents a danger to the Haitian people and a constant threat to Dominican Republic and the region,” Blanco stressed in his turn at the Council session.
According to the UN, at least 150 people have died in a week, many of them gang members who fell in combat with the police and members of the multinational force led by Kenya.
