The meeting took place in the Kenyan official’s office.

According to the official account of the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic before the United Nationsdiplomats took advantage of the occasion to review the bilateral and multilateral agenda of both countries. They highlighted the urgency of ensuring a financing predictable and sustainable for Multinational Mission of Support to the Security in Haiti (MSS).

Furthermore, they agreed on the need to transform this multinational mission into a peacekeeping operation under the auspices of the UN, as the best way to guarantee stability and security in Haiti.

“We take advantage of the opportunity to review our bilateral and multilateral agenda, and exchange on the alarming situation in Haiti. We agree on the urgency of ensuring predictable and sustainable financing for the #MSS in and in the transformation of this Multinational Mission into a Mission of Peacekeeping of @UN_es as the most appropriate way to ensure our purposes of peace and security in the neighboring country,” says the message posted on X’s account. @RDenUN.

Although Haiti has suffered decades of instabilitythe situation is getting worse every day. Since the weekend, more than 200 people have been reported killed in Port-au-Prince at the hands of gangs.

Last Monday, the high commissioner of United Nations for the Human RightsVolker Türk, indicated that with the new victims the number of people killed in the midst of the violence in the country it rises to about 5,000 this year.

In a second meeting, the ambassador Blanco met with the director of the Americas of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassador Josephat Maikara.

During the meeting, the two discussed in detail the “immense opportunities for cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Kenya”, as well as how to continue strengthening and narrowing the bilateral relations between both countries.

Blanco was accompanied by the third secretary Gala Matos Menéndez, of the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic before the UN.
