Colombia imposes its conditions on the Iberia-Air Europa agreement

The Civil Aeronautics Directorate of Colombia has imposed its conditions to authorize the agreement between Iberia and Air Europa, which is pending approval from the European Commission. Both companies must commit to guaranteeing at least 4 weekly non-stop frequencies between Medellin and Madrid.

Air Europa has released a statement in which it reports on the integration agreement of both companies and launches a commitment to act when the agreement is authorized.

«The parties, through Iberia, undertake to maintain, in the current terms and without prejudice to the updates that may be mutually agreed upon, of the Interline and Code Share Agreements with Avianca, Latam, and Copa for traffic between Colombia and Europe, all subject to the condition of reciprocity, and with a duration of 10 years from the Closing of the Transaction,” the agreement states.

As of the closing of the transaction, Iberia and Air Europa “will have the obligation to maintain, as a whole and in total, at least 4 weekly non-stop frequencies between Medellín and Madrid and 119,808 round-trip non-stop seats per year, per year. a maximum period of 3 years.

Finally, it is clarified that, “as of the date of publication of this communication, the Transaction has not yet materialized, so that the conditions described will only be enforceable once the Closing of the Transaction materializes, a fact that will be informed by Iberia and Air Europa through its websites.
