In a meeting with neighborhood meetingscommunity associations and media, the Leon Centerwith the support of City hall of the Municipality of Santiagothe Cibao Savings and Loan Association and President, presented the contest rules Decorate your Neighborhood 2024part of its traditional program Mi Barrio is in Christmas.
Maria Luisa Asilisexecutive director of Leon Centerpresided over the table of honor; Luis Felipe RodrÃguez, manager of Cultural Programs, gave the welcoming words, Awilda Reyes, General Coordinator of Cultural Extension, presented the location information; Ulises RodrÃguezmayor of Santiagospoke on behalf of the city council; and Yara Hernández, vice president of Marketing and Communications, representing ACAP. In addition, the presentation included the participation of the Cibao Association choir.
RodrÃguez highlighted that the program, which celebrates its eighteenth anniversary, was conceived with the objective of strengthen the christmas valuessuch as hope for a better future, solidarity, coexistence and family unity.
During the activity the mayor highlighted that “This contest andIt’s a sample of how art and the culture can unite our communities, turning Santiago in an even cozier place during the Christmas season”
For his part, Hernández stressed the importance of working together: “The collaboration between different sectors is key to the cultural development of our city. “We are excited to be part of this initiative.”
This year, these entities join the cultural institution with the purpose of promoting national traditions and spiritual values associated with the Christmasas an essential means to strengthen Dominican identity in the neighborhoods, as well as to promote Santiago as a tourist destination during festive times.
The categories
- In this eighteenth edition you will be able to participate the neighborhoods, sectors or streets of Santiago de los Caballerosduly represented through their neighborhood meetings or community organizations corresponding, in two categories of participation.
- Tradition: communities that have 5 or more previous participations participate, whether consecutive or cumulative. In this first category three large awards: 1st place, RD$ 200,000.00; 2nd place, RD$ 150,000.00; and RD$ 100,000.00, for 3rd place.
- Originality: Communities with between zero and four previous participations participate. In this second category, a 1st. prize of RD$ 75,000.00; a 2nd. prize of RD$ 50,000.00; and a 3rd. prize of RD$30,000.00.
In addition to the cash prizes, each of the three neighborhoods selected as winners in the Tradition category will receive a popular Christmas concert with the group El Norte, Krisspy and Fefita La Grande, to be held on the 11th, 12th and 13th of December 2024. The location of each concert will be determined in due time within each winning community and will feature the presentation of various artistic groups, in the sectors that have obtained the first three prizes.
