Agents of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) together with members of the Specialized Security Corps (CESAC), coordinated by members of the Public Ministrythey seized 162 pieces of pottery shaped like lemons that were filled with cocaine.

According to a press release sent by the DNCDthe agents and soldiers, as part of the reinforcement of the operations, carried out multiple interdictions in the area of ​​cargo and air transportation of goods when they detected suspicious images, through one of the X-ray machines, inside a container that would be taken to Europe.

The cargo was then inspected with a canine unit that gave a positive alert to controlled substances and after opening the container, several boxes were found, containing 162 ceramic lemons full of cocaine with a total weight of 10 kilograms, as determined by the analysis of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).

“It is about the manufacture of ceramic pieces with colors, size and other characteristics similar to lemon, a new ingenuity of the networks of drug trafficking internationalto traffic narcotic substances through the air terminals and ports of the country,” the statement indicated.

According to the manifest, the boxes were sent by a company located in Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Montecristi province, and it would be received by a company dedicated to the purchase and sale of products, with address in the Grote Pieter StreetBelgium.
