Four of the most important beach destinations in Mexico have registered an increase in the perception of insecurity, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), which are Cancún, La Paz, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos.
The figures on the perception of urban insecurity are taken from the National Survey of Urban Public Safety (ENSU) carried out by INEGI and published by Reporte Gemes, a tourism consultancy.
“La Paz, although it is one of the destinations with the lowest percentage of perception of insecurity, for the first quarter of the year it reported an increase of 8 percentage points compared to the previous quarter,” Gemes shares.
Cancún also registered an increase in the perception of insecurity of 7.9 percentage points, reaching 82.4%. Likewise, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos increased their percentage in said category, compared to the previous quarter by 5.7 and 1.6% respectively.
Currently in Cancun, 8 out of every 10 inhabitants of the destination feel unsafe; a relevant fact, since this city is one of the destinations in Mexico that receives the largest number of national and international visitors, says Reporte Gemes.
As reported REPORTUR.mxAfter the murder of the campaign coordinator of the candidate for deputy Alberto Batún, the PRD party will insist that the Electoral Institute of Quintana Roo (Ieqroo) grant them security measures in favor of the candidates for local legislators.
