The Hotel sector in Cancun has formalized a request to Sedetur to control the blockades that have occurred at the entrance to the Cancun airport, as this affects the arrival of tourists and the promotion they carry out.
“It seems that demonstrations and marches are becoming a habit, which affects any effort to promote tourism, and we do not understand why the sectors that depend on tourism are the ones that are being most affected,” said Jesús Almaguer, president of the Association of Hotels of Cancún, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres.
Almaguer calls for the creation of laws with penalties to prevent demonstrations with blockades from affecting the Hotel zone and the airport, since they are taking place more and more frequently and there is no awareness of the damage they cause.
“We therefore urge the Government to take measures to prevent a greater impact and to ensure that the expenditure on tourism promotion is not wasted,” Almaguer added.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxseveral groups of taxi drivers and tourist transporters from Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, planned last weekend to block the main access roads to the Cancun International Airport, in protest against the operation of Uber and other digital platforms.
