The executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), Jean Luis Rodriguez, announced that Port Cabo Rojo in flintsis preparing to receive its third cruise ship in October and inaugurate phase 2, which includes new attractions, actions with which they are working to achieve the goal of receiving 150 thousand cruise passengers for the cruise season next year 2025.
“Cabo Rojo is doing very well, taking into account that the cruises are due to an itinerary. We take this port to Seatradewhich is the most important cruise fair held in Florida, United Statesand in the next few days we are going to a similar one in Europe, because it is an ongoing effort to attract new cruise lines,’ he said.
The official highlighted that at the end of the year Port Cabo Rojo will close with the reception of 20 thousand tourists, a significant figure for a new destination where no cruise ship had arrived.
He added that the projection of visitors who will arrive at Port Cabo Rojo next year is based on confirmed ships, since it is a rule in the cruise industry to have a schedule of all ships that will arrive.
Rodríguez stressed that he sees the country “doing too well” in terms of attracting cruise passengers, because in 2023 the Dominican Republic received 2.3 million visitors and in 2024 it will close with more than 3 million, attributing this to the entry of the ports of Taíno Bay, which already received 800 thousand tourists and Cabo Rojo 20 thousand last year.
