BHD Bank announced the names of the ten finalists of the ninth edition of the Women Who Change the World Awardthe annual recognition that honors women who carry out work that positively impacts society.
The ten finalists chosen by the jury are Maria Estela Diazfrom the province of Azua; Rosanna EstenelaoSan Cristobal; Grace Butler, Thais Herrera and Argentina Henriquez of Santo Domingo; Ana Torres and Bernarda Peña DuránSantiago; Rafaela Encarnación Rosario (Mai Mora)by ElÃas Piña and Fanny Then and Herminia Bueno (Cuca), Dajabón.
From 2014 to date, the banking entity has recognized 100 women from all over the country, to whom it has offered a program of support, advice and extensive training to the beneficiaries of the work they do.
Josefina Navarrosenior vice president of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility of the BHD Bankvalued the impact of this initiative that has made visible the women who leave marks in their work.
“When we look back at our first ten women recognized, and today we see this new group selected so rigorously by our jury, we feel immense joy and are filled with hope.”
She continued: “There are already 100 Women Who Change the World, women who we have the honor of recognizing and making visible for their bravery, innovation and love of others. Each one of them is an example of perseverance and transformative impact that can only be achieved with passion , work, with the ability to make alliances and with vision”.

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the Gran Teatro del Cibao in Santiago de los Caballeros and will be broadcast on Color Visión on October 31.
The selection made by the jury was based on the profile of the nominees, their contribution, commitment and the sustainability of their works, as well as the evidence of transformations and improvements measurable in quantitative or qualitative terms.
Jury members
The Award jury is made up of the journalist Huchi Lora, Maria Amelia Leonpresident of the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation; Oscar Villanuevapresident of the Quiéreme Como Soy Foundation; Soledad Alvarezphilologist and poet, and Steven Puigpresident of BHD Bank. Additionally, this edition features the Reverend Father Secilio Espinalrector of the Pontifical Catholic University Mother and Teacher (PUCMM) as guest jury.
Awards
The first place winner will receive a cash prize of one million pesos. The second and third place winners will receive a cash prize of five hundred thousand pesos each. The seven recognized will receive three hundred thousand pesos in cash each.
He Women Who Change the World Award It is part of the entity’s Social Responsibility, as well as its gender strategy implemented by the BHD Bank since 2015.
