At least three commercial Flights have been canceled from the Dominican Republic to the city of Fort Lauderdale, in the southern part of Florida, due to the torrential downpours and floods that affect that area of the United States.
The canceled Flights are American Airlines number 1574; Santo Domingo-Miami, JetBlue B-62448 and Spirit Airlines NK 142, all bound for the city of Fort Lauderdale.
Passengers bound for the aforementioned city were stranded at the Las Américas International Airport (AILA). They stood in lines with the purpose of postponing their departure reservation date.
María Núñez and Ana Castillo said that they were in a hurry to Travel this Wednesday, but that due to the weather situation in Miami they could not do so, according to Listín Diario.
“We agree with this problem because it has not been the responsibility of the airlines, but of the bad weather and God is the one who knows all things,” they expressed.
The meteorological authorities of Miami have placed a flood alert that extends until this Thursday for South Florida, already saturated with water.
Additionally, more rain is forecast through the end of the week due to a low pressure over the state.
