By the end of 2024, the goal is to reach 1,300,000 passengers at the Tulum International Airport, announced General Javier Diego Campillo, administrator of this airport terminal.
The interviewee reported that the goal for this first year of operations was to register around 700 thousand travelers for the Mayan jungle airport, but due to the increase in Flights there will be between 1.2 and 1.3 million passengers.
He specified that they are focused on increasing the operation of the airport, and after six months of opening they already have three national airlines flying to the air terminal and four international airlines providing service.
He added that this month two more airlines are joining, Jetblue and Copa Airlines. Likewise, derived from the above, they reported that they will begin the next semester with the mobility of five thousand passengers daily.
“Right now we have an average of 4,200 passengers a day, with 16 daily Flights, and for this month, after the arrival of Copa Airlines, we are going to have an average of five thousand passengers a day and around 18 and 19 operations a day ”, detailed the airport administrator.
And he added: “We are growing significantly, we are surely going to exceed the projection we had in the demand study, which was 700 thousand passengers at the end of this first year.”
He reaffirmed that foreign airlines are the ones that generate the most Flights, after the first international Flight to this new airport located in the Riviera Maya was held on March 28 of this year.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, Tulum airport received its first direct Flight from New York this Thursday with the airline Jetblue, which will offer a daily frequency from JFK airport. (Tulum receives its first Flight from NY that will have daily frequency).
