The executive director of the Airport Department Victor Pichardo reported that in the next few days it is expected that construction work will begin on the Heliport of Santiagoa work described as a necessity for this city.
Pichardo visited the headquarters of the Association for the Development of Santiago (Apedi), as well as the board of trustees of the Central Parkplace where the building will be built.
According to a press release, the official stressed that the greatest importance of this heliport lies in that Santiago does not have a specialized structure like this one, to deal with situations of emergency and perform evacuations safe.
He indicated that the work was already tendered and awardedin accordance with the provisions of Law 340-06 on Purchases and Contracts, respecting all corresponding regulations.
“Santiago You can’t stand with your back to the connectivity and it is a work that is contemplated throughout the master plan of the Central Parkin addition, it will complement the National Heliport Network in this area of ​​Cibao,” Pichardo reported.
At the meeting attended by the mayor of SantiagoUlises RodrÃguez, stated that “this work only comes to formalize a space that is used for these landings, but without the security and required formality.”
Meanwhile, the president of the ApediJuan Mera assured that this is a project to which they have given all their support, because it is vital in the face of economic growth that the city experiences, but at the same time to address management in the event of possible catastrophes.
“Yeah Santiago is not prepared, including this solution which represents the heliportwe will not have the facilities necessary to face the level of investmentwhich is growing in this city,” Mera said.
He heliport will have a modern terminal and three helipador platform for helicopterswith an environmentally friendly design and integrated into the Central Park.
