In the balance of routes to Latin America, Air Europa has more than Iberia from the IAG group, however, this number is multiplied in the United States. The two airlines will continue their separate paths with the failed purchase, so Air Europa will apply its 2024-2026 strategic plan and Iberia will focus on consolidating its financial and operational situation, seeking to lead in Barajas with its 2030 plan.
Both airlines will move ahead with their plans in Latin America before Asia, especially Air Europa, which already offers more destinations than Iberia, such as the Dominican Republic, where it flies to three destinations: Santo Domingo, Santiago de Los Caballeros and Punta Cana. Iberia only flies to Santo Domingo. The same is true for Colombia, where Globalia’s airline operates to Bogotá and Medellín, while Iberia only serves Bogotá.
In addition, Air Europa has routes to South American countries that Iberia does not, such as Bolivia (Santa Cruz) and Paraguay (Asunción). To Argentina, Air Europa has two routes, one to Buenos Aires and the other to Cordoba; Iberia only flies to Buenos Aires.
However, where Iberia has an advantage is towards the United States, as it offers eight routes: Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, New York, Dallas, San Francisco and Washington; while Air Europa only offers two destinations: Miami and New York.
As reported by REPORTUR.usAir Europa boasts that it can continue on its own, especially with the current extraordinary prosperity and with the guarantee of credibility provided by Jesús Nuño de la Rosa and Richard Clark, but it also admits that it is not “untouched by the instability of certain markets or by delays in the delivery of new aircraft.” (Air Europa: protection against possible bankruptcy with the State as creditor).
