He Reserve Bank and the Reserves Foundation of the Country invested 93 million pesos to renovate the facilities.

I congratulate the Foundation Banreservas for this contribution,” said Abinader, while highlighting the work of the director of the National AquariumJimmy García and the others involved.
When asked if he will continue with the renovationsthe first president responded that his government He will continue with the readjustments and recalled that when he came to power in 2020, practically all the museums were closed.
The ruler invited the family to enjoy the National Aquarium.
For his part, the director of the National AquariumJimmy García, thanked the investment made by the Reserve Bank already Reserves Foundation of the country, as well as president Abinader for approving “the increase in the Aquarium’s budget from 89.5 million to 142.4 million, which represents an increase of 59%, allowing 122 purchasing and contracting processes to be carried out, when in principle only 59 processes had been planned.”
He detailed that, during 2024, the aquarium incubated 1,975 eggs of turtles Verde and Carey, of which 1,461 were released in the different beaches where their mothers laid their eggs.
Second stage
He concluded that in the second stage, the Caribbean coral reef tunnel and the children’s park will be ready for the enjoyment of the public attending the National Aquarium.
On his side, the president executive of BanreservasSamuel Pereyra, said that the work will provide local and foreign visitors with a renewed space, where environmental education, research and recreation come together to raise awareness about the importance of marine resources and biodiversity.

Pereyra stressed that the place had not been restored since its opening in 1990.
About the renovation
The renovation consisted of renewing the audiencewhich was equipped with modern lighting, projector, seats and technology latest generation.
This space will be a meeting point for education and entertainment, where movies as “Terra Oceans“, a 100% Dominican production, awarded the Educa award and screened in Washington, DC, with the support of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Other renovated areas were the grounds of the Aquarium, equipped with a landscaping inspired by the sea coasts and the painter Elsa Núñez, who restored the mural she made herself more than 30 years ago.
New species
