He president Luis Abinader reported this Thursday that the creation of the Sixth Action Plan of the Dominican Republic before the Alliance for Open Government for the period 2024-2028.
“Each of us, from the highest office to the citizen who exercises his right to vote, has a crucial role in building a culture of accountability and public ethics,” said the president.
At the presentation ceremony of the Fifth Action Plan of Open Government of the Dominican Republic, the president emphasized that information about public management is a right of all citizens and that the government must guarantee freedom of access to information.
- He Open Government Partnership (OGP) or Alliance for Open Government (AGA) is a voluntary multilateral initiative that seeks to improve government performance and encourage citizen participation.
The head of state assured that, through digital platformsfirm steps are being taken towards a more open government. Among the measures mentioned, the creation, for the first time in the Dominican Republic, of the Multi-stakeholder Forum of Open Governmenta platform designed to coordinate and facilitate the formulation of national action plans against Alliance for Open Government.

In the implementation of Fifth Action Plan 2022-2024, other key projects were highlighted to strengthen government efficiency and closeness, such as the Zero Bureaucracy Program Towards an Efficient Government, Contact Center: Take care of your mental health, Opening of territorial demands and the Eficompras RD Portal.
He president Abinader cited the importance of open data in the development of transparent public policies and, along these lines, he mentioned the creation of the first National Open Data Policy and the first National Data Commission, which have already presented two Data Opening Plans for the years 2023 and 2024.

Recommendations for the Dominican Republic
The CEO of the Alliance for Open GovernmentSanjay Pradhan, made three recommendations to the country to continue increasing the levels of confidence of the population in public execution.
Among the opportunities to strengthen the program in the country, Pradhan suggested mobilizing citizens’ contributions on public policies to have better health systems. oversight; improve the provision of health servicesthrough digital platforms; and promote systems that enable people to provide greater feedback about the municipal services.
The representative of the organization highlighted the progress of the Dominican Republic in making the public information and meet the objectives of this project in the country.
