SANTO DOMINGO.-A prisoner from the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR-20) of Najayo, in San Cristóbal, killed two of his cellmates, in the middle of a fight over personal matters.
One of the victims is a communicator Yacomonti Mendoza Bruján (or Yaco Monti Mendoza Bruján), sentenced to 20 years for rape of a minor in Villa Altagracia. The other victim was identified as José Javier Delfin, sentenced to 4 years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm, ammunition and related materials.
Both died when they were transferred to the Dr. Juan Pablo Pina Hospital, in San Cristóbal, after they suffered sharp wounds from a prison-made weapon, which caused their death.
The event occurred in the M2 module area, on floor 1, cell 3, when the prisoner Elvis Rodríguez, sentenced to 30 years for violation of articles 296, 304, 66, 67 of the Dominican Penal Code and Law 631 -16, inflicted several stabs on different parts of the inmates’ bodies, for which they were emergency transferred to said health center, where their death was declared.
The authorities reported through a press release that they are expanding the investigations into the case.
The DGSPC reported that it is waiting for the rigorous autopsy carried out by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), as established by Law 136-80, in its article 1, which requires the practice of judicial autopsy. in the investigation of any case of death if the person were in prison.
