The spokesperson for the Police National stated this Thursday that the institution is going through its best stage in history, due to the significant advances it has obtained through the implementation of the police reformhighlighting the growing interest of youths who seek to join their ranks and professionals from different areas who no longer manage to be “assimilated”, but now “everyone wants to be police officers.”

Diego Pesqueira revealed that about 300 young people of different ages and communities come to the institution’s recruitment area daily in search of opportunities to be police officers, which attributes to the important benefits that the officers have received as a result of the implementation of the reform police implemented by President Luis Abinader.

He explained that recently a police officer earned a salary below RD$10,000, but currently the one who earns the least is around RD$30,000, plus all the incentive that they receive in health, educationalhousing and other specific improvements.

Psychological training before going to the street

He highlighted that, “currently, before an agent goes out on the streets, he must spend a whole year in a training process,” both in the educational area and six months later he completes an internship in a selected area, which ensures that they provide better service.

Continuous Training

Pesqueira, with some 39 years of service in the institution, holding the position of Communications Manager on several occasions, standing out for his closeness with the journalists who cover the source, valued the transformation that the law enforcement body has had and pointed out that, “in general, the Police National and each of its members are living the best time in their entire history.

He said that one of the main achievements has been to improve the level educationalwhere each man and woman of the institution remains continuously in a process of trainingwhich also includes the applicants who are currently in each of the academies.

He said that around 4,000 applicants are being trained with new educational standards so that when they go out on the street they are well prepared.

The police reform

Several years ago the Government started the call police reformwhose objective is to profoundly transform the institution and add 20,000 new agents to the Police National in the next four years, to integrate them into patrolling the streets of the country.
