The vice president of the RepublicRaquel Peña, together with the Minister of Education, Ángel Hernández, led the ceremony this Sunday to present 150 electric buses of the National Student Transportation System (TRAE) in Santiago.

This Monday, October 14, 2024, the operation of these modern vehicles, made in China, that will benefit 148,758 students of public schools in the province.

Benefits direct for students

The buses will cover 41 school routes in the educational districts of Santiagoincluding the municipalities of San José de Las Matas, Jánico, Villa Bisonó (Navarrete), Licey Al Medio, Tamboril, Villa González and sectors such as Ojo de Agua, Los Guandules and Arroyo Hondo.

The new system of transport school, it was reported, will not only reduce the pollutionbut it will also improve the quality of life of the students and their families.

During her intervention, Raquel Peña highlighted the importance of this system as a tool to guarantee equity in access to education.

“The system of transport student ensures that the students reach their educational centers so safepunctual and efficient, in addition to contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions and improving the quality of life of the people of Santiago”, stated the vice president.

For his part, the Minister of Education, Ángel Hernández, highlighted the positive impact that this program will bring to the educational community of Santiago.

“With these buseschildren will not only Travel safe towards their schools, but families also gain peace of mind, knowing that their children are well taken care of,” said Hernández.

A contribution to the sustainability and savings economic

The buses electrical TRAE stands out for being completely ecological, since they do not emit greenhouse gases, which will reduce CO2 emissions by 1,635 tons annually.

These vehicles are equipped with advanced technology, such as GPS, security cameras with 360-degree coverage, and seat belts in each seat.

Ensimo García, director of TRAE, highlighted the benefits economical of the program.

“We have transported 13.3 million studentssaving RD$ 3,990 million for families. This savings will be replicated in Santiagobenefiting more than 160,000 students“.

Community Appreciation student

Darwin Gil, a student who benefited from the program, expressed his gratitude on behalf of his classmates: “This means not only takes us to schools, but also guarantees us safety and speed to arrive on time.”

To guarantee a service of qualitydrivers and assistants have been trained by the National School of Road Safety Education in first aid and traffic regulations.
