Acapulco: tourists murdered while waiting for transport

Three members of a family originally from Mexico City were shot dead last night in the tourist town of Acapulco, Guerrero, while waiting for an enforcement vehicle. The attack was carried out despite the fact that the adults had children with them.

The vacationers were intercepted with their luggage on Vicente Guerrero Boulevard, in the Renacimiento neighborhood. At the scene, a 55-year-old woman died and two men were injured. They were taken to a hospital, but later died.

According to local media, the victims were identified as tourists who had had altercations with vendors moments before while on the beach.

Hours later, the municipal secretary of tourism of Acapulco, David Abarca, denied that the people shot were tourists, without giving more details about the identity of the victims. “Checking with the Secretary of Public Security, he clearly said that they are not tourists.

Abarca called for everyone’s collaboration to protect the image and strengthen tourism in Acapulco, recalling that the well-being of the tourism sector is key to the recovery and economic development of the region.
