Pope Francis will receive the Dominican president, Luis Abinader, in audience on May 27, the Vatican press office confirmed this Friday.
The audience will be held at 09:00 Italian time (07:00 GMT) in the apostolic palace in the Library Room, where the pontiffs receive the heads of State and Government and will later meet with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
Aninader announced this Monday his trip to Europe, where he will hold meetings with the presidents of Italy and Portugal, Sergio Mattarella and Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
The president-elect explained that this visit was planned before the elections in which he emerged victorious this Sunday with more than 57% of the votes, according to the latest data from the Central Electoral Board (JCE).
